Churches Have Various Standards & Disciplines • Some have creeds / disciplines • Some have an earthly head (Pope) • Some have a Council / Synod / Convention • Some have district leaders • Some take votes & change their positions Reason for so much division!

I. Jesus is the Only Head • Jesus is the Head of the Church • Col. 1:18 • Eph. 1:22-23 • Eph. 5:23 • Means: head is divine • Means: He is the only head

OT is Not Her Law • Old Testament is Not in Force Today • Rom. 7:1-4 – separated from law by death of Christ • Gal. 3:24-25 – no longer under law • Col. 2:14 – took it out of way – nailing to cross • 2 Cor. 3:7-16 – old is passing away • OT law was given to specific nation (Exo. 34:7; Deut. 5:13)

It Is Inspired Inspiration “divinely breathed in” Thus: Given by the breathe of God Plenary (All The Bible) “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (2 Tim. 3:16) Verbal (Every Word) “not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches” (1 Cor. 2:13)

IV. Application & Meaning • What We Believe & Teach Must Be Found in the Bible • Must be according as it is written (2 Cor. 4:13) • Must be as the oracles of God (1 Pet. 4:11) • Put finger on the text before we believe or practice!

Application & Meaning • What We Believe & Teach Must Be Found in the Bible • No Creed but the Bible • Bible is sufficient for all we teach (1 Pet. 4:11) • Bible is sufficient for all we practice (Col. 3:17) • Bible is sufficient for establishing faith (Rom. 10:17) • Why is there a need for a creed? • If says more than Bible – says too much! • If says less than Bible – says too little! • If says the same (it is the Bible) – we already have!

Application & Meaning • What We Believe & Teach Must Be Found in the Bible • No Creed but the Bible • It Makes a Difference What We Believe • Possible to believe a lie and be lost (2 Thess. 2:10-12) • There are false teachers (1 John 4:1, 6) • Need to careful examine what I am taught (Acts 17:11)
