HKMA’s Experience • Management Attention • From RTGS implementation (1995/1996), HKMA learnt a lesson on “expect the unexpected”. • Importance of a back-up centre is appreciated. • HKMA’s backup centre was set up in 1996.
HKMA’s Experience • Pre-911 Backup Centre • A consultant was hired to conduct a feasibility study • A site was selected on HK island • Very much a disaster recovery centre with training facilities • Annual drill very much on IT and administration capability

Split Operation Arrangement • Implemented on Dec 2005, during WTO meeting • Every six months staff at BCP centre will be rotated • All staff are familiar with production and BCP centre environments
From Plan to Practice • Every year there must be one BCP drill • Every three year there must be one BCP drill on a business day • Every year corporate will update divisional plan
