Tornado Academy Expectations • Be on time • Obey all school and classroom rules • Be prepared • Have an attitude conducive for learning • Respect themselves and others and property • Remain seated until dismissed by teacher • Use time wisely
Tornado Academy Expectations Follow directions Leave food and drink outside of B building Limit bathroom breaks to 5 per semester Wear ID tags at all times Wear proper clothing at all times Restrict use of electronic devices between 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
Discipline Policy Class unprepared Smoking Cell phones, audio devices, and other unauthorized electronics Inappropriate clothing Academy student in unauthorized area Student IDs Class Disruptions Tardies Bus Infractions
Homework Policy Make it a NIKE Thing Just Do It!
Standards of Quality Work • All margins should be one inch • All spelling and punctuation should be correct • All writing should be in complete sentences • Student name, class period, and date should be in top right hand corner • Title should be centered on the first line If you are unsure or confused, ASK!!!
Statement of Academic Honesty Examples of cheating • Copying, faxing, or duplicating assignments and turning them in as original • Exchanging assignments and turning them in as original • Writing formulas, codes, key words, on your person for use on a test • Using hidden reference sheets during a test
Statement of Academic Honesty Using programmed material in watches/calculators when prohibited Exchanging answers with others Taking someone else’s assignment and submitting it as your own Permitting another student to copy someone else’s assignments
Statement of Academic Honesty Submitting material without giving credit Taking credit for group work when little/no contribution was made Not following additional specific guidelines on cheating as established by department, class, or certain teacher
Lunch Policy Academy Lunch (2nd Lunch) 11:50 am- 12:15 pm Remain in cafeteria the entire lunch period Bathroom breaks 5 minutes following lunch
Grading Procedures Tests, Quizzes, Assigned Reading, & Standard Assignments = Current Grading Scale Projects (Major and Minor) = Rubric Scale
Power of “I” No option to not do major assignments Students will not receive ZEROS Assignments that do not reach a 70 or 1 will receive an INCOMPLETE
How can the teacher make me do an assignment or correct one? There is not option but to do the assignment to the satisfactory standard. If you have an I at the end of the 9 weeks you WILL receive an F for your 9 weeks grade. As a student you do not want to receive an F for the 9 weeks for one non-correct or missing assignment.
When will I have time to correct or complete these assignments? NO CLASS TIME WILL BE USED TO CORRECT TO COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS. There will still be many opportunities to remove an I. Afterschool tutorial days, Saturday Academy, Mandatory Tutoring, or At Home.
Tornado Academy Lab Policy Students enrolled in any lab class must meet the safety requirements for that class in order to participate in any lab activities.
Extra Help Afterschool Tutorial Session: • Monday Science Dept. • Tuesday Social Studies Dept. • Wednesday Math Dept. • Thursday English Dept. *****Buses will be provided *****Snack provided
Extra Help Saturday Academy • May be used for tutoring, make up days, & INCs • NO students are allowed to enter the building after 8:00 am • Students participating in tutoring or INC completion/corrections may be dismissed when work is completed
