Council on Social work education (CSWE) • An overview of CSWE • Core competencies • The signature pedagogy of Social Work is field education. Field education is systematically designed, coordinated, and evaluated based on criteria by which students demonstrate the achievement of program competencies. • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior • Engage in Diversity and Difference • Advance Human Rights and Social, Economic and Environmental Justice • Engage in Practice- Informed Research and Research- Informed Practice • Engage in Policy Practice • Engage with Individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities • Assess Individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities • Intervene Individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities • Evaluate Individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities
Evaluation • Students are evaluated on the ongoing development of core competencies and professionalism. • The Learning contract – serves as a guide for evaluation • Weekly supervision • Integrative seminar with faculty provides evaluation of progress • Agency Supervisor written evaluation at the end of each semester • In addition to the structured evaluations, the faculty liaison will periodically meet with the field supervisor and the student to review learning contracts and student progress.
