Meramandali, August 28, 2021: Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi vision of “Purvoday” is to ensure infrastructure development of Eastern part of India. India cannot be developed without the development of Eastern part of the country, therefore, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for focused development of Eastern India to fuel next wave of national growth. As a result, the Eastern States of India, in particular Odisha, has witnessed accelerated growth in the past years. 2. Common User Petroleum Facility at Sadashibpur Three oil market marketing companies (OMCs) viz BPCL, IOCL and HPCL will set-up a common user facility (CUF) for petroleum products at Sadashibpur in Odisha. Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education & Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in India will lay the foundation stone of the project on Saturday This facility will supply petroleum products including Motor Spirit (Petrol) and High-Speed Diesel (Diesel) to Angul, Keonjhar, Deogarh and Dhenkanal districts. These districts have seen rapid industrialisation in the recent past and hence there is a significant increase in demand for petroleum products. Currently, the majority of the demand of petroleum products in Odisha is fed from Paradeep Terminal. However, the existing facilities at Paradeep Terminal are facing pressure due to increased demand and higher transportation cost to central and northern districts of Odisha. BPCL will be the lead company for developing this facility, which will be set-up at a total estimated cost of Rs 395 crore on around 50 acres of land that has already been acquired. A state of art, fully automated depot having storage capacity of about 42,000 KL has been planned for storing MS, HSD, Ethanol and Bio-diesel. Associated facilities viz. Administrative block, Control Room and Sub-station shall also be constructed. The depot shall be equipped with latest fire-fighting facilities complying with MB Lal recommendations. A 12 bay TLF Gantry shall be constructed to feed petroleum products to Retail Outlets / consumers of major revenue districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh and Kendujhar. The above storage will provide a coverage of 20 days in MS and 12 days in HSD. The project activity will generate direct & indirect employment and business & economic growth to the local community of the area. The project activities will generate approximately two lakh man days employment during the construction period and enhance overall Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) quotient by decongesting Paradeep installation, lesser road travel time and lead time for supplies to Odisha.
