Conclusions (1):development and transformation of Małopolska in a long-term perspective the development of the settlement networkwith the dominant role of Kraków very important: several contemporary features of Małopolska originate in the period limited impact significant but ambiguous impact critical conjuncture of various processes
Conclusions (2): What was changed by the transformation after 1989? the transformation of Małopolska was not accompanied by a serious decline of economic activities on which the previous development of the region relied post-1989 transformation triggered various forms of activities in the Małopolska region, which were dormant or limited under state socialism post-socialist transformation became a critical conjuncture of various economic, social and institutional processes, which together shape a new path of development of the region
Conclusions (3): Małopolska in the time horizon of 2020 and 2050 the developmental path of Małopolska bears numerous attributes of an evolutionary structure of long duration the role of the Kraków metropolis as the switching pointlinking Małopolska with global economic networks and impulses of innovativeness • the impact of path dependent mechanisms, which foster the continuation of the positive cumulative developmental path of the region: • self-reinforcing positive image of the city and the region • the reactive process ofdiversification of the regional economy the impact of thesuccess or failure of the deep restructuring of the neighbouring Katowice conurbation significant challenges: settlement dispersal, transport accessibility, multifunctional development of rural areas
