1. Two Wheeler Sales in India-Domestic Market India has become world’s largest two wheeler market ahead of China. Indian two wheeler sales (Domestic) has touched 175.9 Lakh (17.59 Million) units and grew by 6.9% in 2016-17 over 2015-16. Hero 2wheeler company sold 64.84 lakh (6.48Million) units with market share of 36.9%. Hero growth has been flat at 1% and below the Industry average of 6.9%. 1.2 Honda 2Wheelers is distant 2nd Position with sales of 47.25 lakh (4.725 Million) units. Honda is growing higher than industry average growth and narrowing down the gap with Hero to contest leadership position. 1.3 TVS Motors is ahead of Bajaj Auto with 24.89 lakh sales and 14.1% market share. 1.4 Bajaj Auto sales was 20.01 lakh with market share of 11.4% 1.5 Royal Enfield, Yamaha, Suzuki , Piaggiohave shown higher sales growth than the industry average growth.

2. Two Wheeler Sales in India- Export Market India has emerged as world’s largest exporter of scooters and small engine capacity bikes. Main export destinations are South & Central America, Africa, SAARC neighbouring countries, ASEAN and some European countries Indian two wheeler export sales has declined by 5.4% to dip as 23.39 lakh (2.33 Million) units in 2016-17 to due to sluggish world economy and currency crises in Africa. 2.1 Bajaj Auto continue to lead two wheeler export business from India with 12.18 lakh (1.218 Million) with 52 % market share. Bajaj is continued leader in exports since 2002 , when it overtook Yamaha bikes in exports. 2.2 TVS Motors is distant 2nd with 3.64 lakh and 15.6% market share. 2.3 Honda 2wheelers exports have grown over 40% and it became 3rd largest two wheeler Export Company registering sales of 3.64 lakh (15.6 % M.S) and 2.83 lakh (12.1% M.S). 2.4 Hero Motocorp lost Export market share in 2016-17. Hero exported 1.83 lakh two wheelers and have 7.3% market share in Indian two wheeler export business. 2.5 Yamaha bikes is also close to Hero level of exports with two wheeler export of 1.71 lakh units in 2016-17
