  3. Project Overview • Swarm of 8 identical wheeled robots • Each robot (agent) follows a set of simple behavioral patterns • The robots work together to accomplish tasks through emergent behavior

  4. Commercial Projects: AMiR • Uses IR for sensing distance • Lacks: • Ambient Sensors • Wireless capabilities • Smaller motors than our GM3’s • Slightly smaller packaging • Octagonal

  5. Commercial Projects: Jasmine • Same IR arrangement • Lacks: • Wireless capabilities • Very Small • Pager motors • Bent “Box” Frame

  6. Packaging specifications • Base Plate: • Hexagonal (2” sides) • Aluminum • Caster front wheel • 2” Standoffs for PCB

  7. PCB Footprint • PCB Space is a premium • All possible SMD/SOIC parts • Small Separate “hat” PCB for the Wireless modules • Avoid interference • Avoid Overhanging Module • Save border real estate
