The Process • Need for new trainer • Job posting on Wit website • Job description posted on website • Application process/sifting through • Phone interviews to weed out applicants • Interview committee chosen: Associate athletic director, director of athletic communications, one/two coaches, administrative assistant, two student athletes of upperclassman status • Each member of committee came up with 2/3 questions to ask in interview • In person interviews • Tour of campus • HR interview • Panel interview • One on One interview with athletic director • Panel evaluated each applicant based on merit and previous experience • Most common rank was chosen for head trainer • Reference check • Offer of job • Call those who didn’t receive the job • Final candidate chosen and welcomed to WIT

  9. Panel Interview Questions • Why are you interested in this job and why Wentworth? • What are your goals in the training/sports medicine field? • What are you doing to stay current in the field? What are you biggest achievements in the field? • What is the most challenging part of your job as a trainer? How do you overcome it? • How do you think your current student athletes would describe you? • How would you describe your approach to treating injuries? • What kind of personal characteristics are necessary for success in this field? • What is the most rewarding part of your job? • How do you feel about the type of schedule you would be working? (long days, weekends)
