  2. Relationship to the Tsars Sophia Alekseyevna was the sister to Ivan, and step sister to Peter, both of which were dvoetsarstvenniki (double stars). She was also the only remaining daughter for Tsar Alexis.

  3. How she became known After the death of her reigning father, her brother Fyoder took the throne. This was to her advantage due to his lacking in the mental preparedness and thus easily able to sway him to her wims.

  4. Post-Mortem of Fyoder Following the death of her brother, she was quickly passed over for a spot on the throne. Due to the inept succession, both Ivan (her brother) and Peter took to the throne as a joint Tsar.

  5. Her Reign As a result of the lacking ability of the Tsars, she was often looked to in place of them. During her regency, she brought about much inner growth and progress.

  6. Her Downfall While growing in age, Peter also grew into his position as Tsar. At the age of 16, he fully took over his role and Sophia was powerless to stop it.

  7. Herexile After a failed attempt to proclaim herself as Tsarina, Peter demanded her advisor to be executed, and herself to be banished to a convent for the rest of her existence.
