  2. WHO • Numerous coach’s I have had – Percy Hoff, Dave Conway,Mohamed Rtimi, Austin Boryski, Hernan Tapia, Alvi Campos, etc. • People I’ve trained and competed with/against

  3. What • My enjoyment and participation in the sport of soccer • I can kick a soccer ball and play the sport in an organized fashion (kind of)

  4. What Is Soccer? • Basically, it’s a game between two teams where no players, except goalies (called ‘keepers’), can touch the ball with their hands • The objective of the game is to score on the opposition’s net (large square mesh-like basket) by kicking, heading, etc. • I mostly play 9v9 on half of the field that professionals would play on (11v11) • I currently just finished my indoor season (9v9) and am starting the outdoor season (11v11) • There is very little gear needed for soccer – a ball, and possibly shin pads, cleats or shoes, and long socks… • The nice thing about soccer is anyone can play – you are not limited by expensive gear

Weird Slang • Back heel– Hitting the ball with your heel • Booking– When a yellow card is given by the referee to a player • Build up- Usually when a team plays the ball out of the back rather than serving the ball up to the strikers with a long pass • Check– To ask for the ball • Clean sheet- When a keeper doesn't allow the opposing team to score • Clearing it– When a team decisively kicks the ball out of its defensive zone, stopping the other team’s offensive attack • Closing down- Putting pressure on an offensive player so they have no space or time to operate • Cover– Supporting the player closing down an opponent • Diagonal Ball- Cross field pass or diagonal ball that opens up the game • Dummy – Letting the ball go past or through your legs to a teammate • Golden goal- A goal scored in overtime which ends the match. • Meg -To put the ball through somebody’s legs cleanly • Goalaso – Spanish for ‘incredible goal!’ • One-touch– Playing the ball with just one touch And Many More…

  6. When • I have played soccer since I was 4 (I have played for 10 years now) • There are two soccer seasons in Canada - from October – March (indoor), and May to early July (outdoor)

  7. Where • I have played soccer throughout my life in Calgary and Saskatoon • I currently play in the Saskatoon Youth Soccer League

  8. Medals • More than 15 TimBits soccer medals • 4 player of the game awards • 2 tournament Silvers • 1 Gold tournament medal • 2nd place city championships • 1st place skill’s shootout provincials 2013 • 2 U12 participation medals

  9. Why • For the enjoyment, physical activity, endurance, and skills and discipline that soccer gives me • Easy to play, and most of all fun to play with friends

  10. Interesting Facts • Soccer is the most popular sport in the world • Worst soccer game score difference was 149 – 0. This happened where a team (StadeOlympique de L’emyrne) scored multiple goals on themselves • Lightning killed an entire soccer team during a game in 1998, Democratic Republic of Congo • A soccer player can run 10 km in one game. That's more than 6 miles!
