  3. Boston Tea Party In 1773, Colonists disguised as American Indians boarded three British ships and dumped tea into the Boston harbor. Destroying the tea was a serious crime. Parliament reacted to the Boston Tea Party by punishing the whole colony of Massachusetts for the actions of a few men.

  4. First Continental Congress In 1774, American delegates met in Philadelphia to discuss the recent actions of the British Parliament, including the Intolerable Acts. The delegates created their Declaration of Rights in hopes that the King would be willing to compromise. The delegates also called for the local militias to begin preparing.

  5. Lexington & Concord- 1775 This battle is considered to be the start of the American Revolution. British troops were headed to Concord to seize a stockpile of American weapons. British were slowed down by minutemen in Lexington before heading on to Concord. In Concord the British had to retreat back to Boston. This battle was known as was "the shot heard round the world."
