Yr 12 English Examination • Thursday, 1st November, 2012 • Greening Auditorium • 9am start (BE HERE BY 8.30am LATEST) • Be Prepared: • Dictionary – not a ‘student’ version • A collection of BLUE or BLACK pens (no pencil) • Highlighters • Student ID Card • A clear water bottle with NO labels • NO PHONES GO . . . . Turning Up:

Read and select Section A text topics • Read Section B prompt • Identify and carefully consider key words • Look up any words that are unknown • Unpack the possibilities of the topic/prompt • Read Section C analysis • Read as many times as possible in the remaining time • No highlighting • Look up any words that are unknown • Mentally break up the article into sections/arguments to deal with • Spend time considering the HEADLINE and any accompanying visuals • Read any background information provided GO . . . . Use your Reading Time: 15mins

Start with SECTION C • DAPICATTA (Intro) • Start with Headline & Visual • Break article into manageable sections • WHAT NEXT? • Make a decision – instinct • CHOICES: • brief plan for each? • Start section A? • Start section B? NO COMMENTARY • Considerations: Remembering quotes? What is stronger? What will you need more time to finish? Which will you struggle with under pressure? GO . . . . Writing Time:
