  2. LOCAL OUTREACH FALL 2005 *Collaboration with Nebraska Art Teachers Association - Faith Ringgold Presentation * Exhibition of Ringgold’s work at UNO Art Gallery* Teacher resources and lesson plans

  3. Outreach to local schools UNO Art History and Art Education students serve as docentsfor school groups who visit Faith Ringgold exhibition at UNO Art Gallery.

  4. Art Education students prepare Activity Center for children in gallery based on Ringgold’s art.

  5. Fine Arts students lead activities at Family Day

  6. Local organizations make quilts based on Ringgold’s art Boys’ and Girls’ Club Quilt Girls Inc. Quilt

  7. Teachers receive book, poster and teacher packets 75 teachers from 8 districts are given materials to prepare lessons on Faith Ringgold’s art. 4th and 5th grade quilt projects from Traci Hernandez’ classes

  8. Faith Ringgold visits UNO Art Gallery and examines lesson plans focused on her art and written by Nebraska teachers.

  9. STATEWIDE OUTREACH Prairie Visions - 19-year collaboration among universities, museums, arts organizations, and K-16 art educators * Historically housed in the NE Dept. of Education* Then moved to Nebraska Arts Council* Now planned and delivered through UNO Center with funding from NAC

  10. Teachers as leaders and innovators in arts integration. Led by discipline consultant team from UNO for entire 19 years. Current Prairie Visions planning team Joanne Sowell Frances Thurber Shari Hofschire

  11. Held at Nebraska Museums Participants from across the State and beyond.

  12. Participants engage in visual arts, music, dance and theater. Participants include art teachers, elementary classroom teachers and teachers of other subjects who want to integrate the arts.

  13. Participants work in small groups with experienced teachers as leaders. Janine Moore, Chadron, and Sharon Seim, Omaha, have been group leaders for 19 years.

  14. “I believe that you can integrate dance, visual arts and music into all subject areas. Not only will the students connect more with what is being taught, they will enjoy the process as well.” Prairie Visions participant 2004

  16. Six years of collaboration with College of Education and MOEC schools on a Masters Program for first-year teachers emphasizing arts integration. CADRE II: The Arts

  17. Lesson designed by a first-year elementary art specialist in CADRE II Program.

  18. Lesson designed by a first-year elementary classroom teacher to integrate visual art and language arts.

  19. Teachers all over the world can access detailed information about these lessons designed by first- year teachers learning to integrate the arts into other areas of learning.
