  1. Announcements Comm2339electronicmedia.wordpress.com

  2. A little bit on the Mid Term • If you haven’t already – select a product or a PSA that you will format into three different formats – Radio, TV and for the Internet. • Remember you are to sell your product or inform the public with your PSA • Don’t forget the primary principles – • Keep it Simple • Use the right format. • Say it, Explain it Repeat it.

  3. Using the Right Format • To Review: • Remember for TV you are using your basic two column format.

  4. TV Script • Remember the Two-column format: • Everything on the VIDEO side is CAPITALIZED. • ONLY the NAMES of the characters are in CAPS on the AUDIO side. • SOUND and SOUND FX are also in CAPS on the AUDIO SIDE

  5. For the Internet • You will explain first – in a two page essay what you would include for the product’s/PSA’s website. • Make sure that if you incorporate a video that would show the product you must write another script that would be specifically formatted for the internet using the TV format. • Include the kinds of links you would offer.

  6. For the Radio • Remember to write for the ear, not the eyes. • In Radio you must be clear. • If there are any odd words make sure you include their pronunciation in parenthesis: • For Example: • Jason Gryzwackz (GRIZZ- WACK) of the National Weather service in Santa Teresa said snow will fall today.

  7. For Radio… • Remember this is going to be a 30 to 60 second commercial – • Once you write it read it aloud and time yourself. • See if it actually is 30 to 60 seconds.

  8. My Suggestion • Write out your radio script first – this will allow you to time yourself and see if it’s actually 30 to 60 seconds. • Then write your TV script. • Then your Internet essay.

  9. The Midterm • The Midterm is due Thursday by the end of class.

  10. Remember… • This is a project that should include • 1. A TV Script • 2. A Radio Script • 3. An 2-page essay that would explain how you would market your product or idea on the Internet. • Remember if you say you want a video of your product you must also include a separate script as well. • Social links are always a plus – explain if you would use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or any other social media site and how.

  11. Review on the Internet • When writing for the Internet remember you have a medium that you can upload virtually anything. • Photos, videos, and radio pieces. • You have room for surveys.

  12. Writing for the Internet Review • Even though you have this large medium – you still need to keep things simple. • Make sure what you write is accurate and grammatically correct.

  13. Review on TV Script • Remember to use: • FADE IN: • Develop your scene – set where your script will take place. • FADE IN: EXT. OUTSIDE A SUBURB NEIGHBORHOOD – DAY • FADE IN: INT. INSIDE A STUDIO - NIGHT

  14. TV Settings • Make sure you have the two column format: • Use CUT TO when the scene changes from one part of the scene to another – example – outside shots to inside shots and vice versa. • Use MS for a mid-shot of a person. • WS – when you are trying to show the entire setting. • Check out the example.

  15. For Thursday • Work on your mid term • It’s due at the end of class next week. • Check online for samples of: • Radio Scripts • TV Script • This will help with your formatting.
