With the help of that lady over on my right, I can help! (It’s Mrs. Gribaudo.) Frustrated with the Quadratic Formula?
See that PRGM button? Click it! You’ll see all your games there…Just kidding Mrs. Gribaudo! We’ll Scroll over to NEW to create a New Program Then click ENTER and that’s where the fun begins!
Now to name the program… You can name it quadform like I did or name it some thing else if you want, but remember, you just have to remember what it does!
Now’s the complicated part: You have to type in: :Prompt A,B,C :(-B+√(B2-4AC))/(2A)X :(-B-√(B2-4AC))/(2A)Y :Disp “VALUE IS”, X :Disp “AND”, Y For Prompt, click PRGM, then the right arrow and scroll down to Prompt For the arrow, click the STO button above the on button For Disp, click PRGM, then the right arrow and scroll down to Disp For quotation marks press ALPHA then the + sign The letters are the green letters above each key
To check if you got it right, do a simple quadratic formula that you know, and see if the answers are the ones that you know! You can do f(x)=x2+4x+4 f(x)=x2+4x+4 f(x)=(x+2)(x+2) Therefore when you plug in: A=1 B=4 C=4 The result should be X=-2 And What do you know? It Works!
Congratulations guys! Wait, you actually survived to this stage without fainting? Good Job! Now you have the quadratic formula on your calculator and you are ready for anything (that needs the quadratic formula of course!)
