  1. Lines, lines, and More Lines! By: Ms. Rozelle 8th Grade Math

  2. Intersecting VS Perpendicular • Are they the same?? • Noooo! • Perpendicular lines intersect at a right angle! (90 degrees) • Intersecting lines cross each other. • Are all perpendicular lines intersecting lines? • Are all intersecting lines perpendicular lines?

  3. Skew VS Coplanar • Skew lines do not lie on the same plane! • Coplanar lines do! • Can skew lines also be intersecting or perpendicular lines? • Can coplanar lines also be intersecting or perpendicular lines?

  4. Parallel VS Coincidental • Parallel lines lie in the same plane but never intersect! • Coincidental lines have equivalent linear equations and overlap at EVERY point! • Coincidental = One line on top of the other • Can skew lines also be coincidental lines? • Can parallel lines also be skew lines?

  5. Equilateral VS Isosceles VS Scalene • Equilateral Triangle?? All sides are equal! • Isosceles Triangle?? Triangle with two equal sides! Angles opposite the equal sides are also equal. • Scalene Triangle?? Has three unequal sides!

  6. Geometry Map ProjectLines, Angles, & Triangles! • Your task is to design a map that includes several different kinds of lines, angles and triangles. You can choose your own theme for your map. Your map can be of a town, your neighborhood or a made up place. It must however include the following: • - Title of your town/neighborhood/made up place • - Two sets of streets that are parallel • - Two sets of streets that are perpendicular • - Two sets of streets that are Coincidental Lines • - One street that intersects another street to form an obtuse angle • - One street intersects another to form an acute angle • - One street that is a line segment • - One street that is a line • - One street that is a ray • - An ice cream parlor in the shape of an equilateral triangle • - A Pool that is in the shape of a scalene triangle • - A Pizza Place in the shape of a Isosceles triangle • Once your map is completed you are to write out five directions from one place to another. Each direction must have one of these terms: parallel, intersecting or perpendicular. These directions should be able to get your teacher and classmates from one place to another without getting lost!
