Swimming in Ukraine • Swimming is a sport or the sports discipline consisting in overcoming by swimming for the smallest time of various distances. Swimming as a sport includes: actually swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming. Ukraine enjoys warm and pleasant summers and offers great opportunities for swimming at the seaside. There are plenty of beaches along the coasts of the Black Sea and the Azov Sea and modern resorts offer various attractions for a more extensive summer holiday. Good swimming, however, is not associated only with the seaside, as Ukraine has a large number of big rivers like Dnepr. They are lined with sandy beaches and are a favourite place for both local citizens and visitors. In the cities many public swimming pools offer fun and recreation for everyone.
Ukrainian swimmer Yana Klochkova was burn 7 August 1982. She is a Ukrainian swimmer, who has won five Olympic me - dals. 4 gold medals came in the 200 meter individual medley and the 400 meter individual medley at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. Her silver medal came in the 800 meter freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Ukrainian swimmer Oleg Lisogor was born 17 January 1979. He is a Ukrainian swimmer, born in Brovary. Lisogor is the former world record holder in the 50 meters breaststroke, long course, with 27.18 seconds. The record was set in Berlin on 2 August 2002. Lisogor is also the former record holder over 50 meters breaststroke. He won two world titles in the 50 meters breaststroke, in 2001 and 2007.
Ukrainian swimmer Denys Sylantyev was born 3 October 1976. He is a Ukrainian swimmer who won the silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sidney in the 200m butterfly. He won the Mare Nostrum circuit three times: 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Ukrainian swimmer Andrey Serdinov was born 17 November 1982 in Luhansk. He is a Ukrainian swimmer, who competed Olympics in the 2000, in the 2004 and in the 2008. He also won the bronze medal in the 100 m butterfly at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Serdinov was also the world record holder in this event, which stood for approximately five minutes. In 2003 he won two golds at the Summer Universiade, in the 50 m and 100 m butterfly.
