NATIONAL INFORMATION SYSTEM ON LONG TERM FERTILIZER EXPERIMENTS (NISLTFE)
To collect, collate and compile the data on long term fertilizer experiments. To design and develop a database for long term fertilizer experiments. To develop a user-friendly web-based information system on long-term fertilizer experiments. To evolve suitable mechanism for maintenance, inflow and updating of the information system. Objectives
The key source of data information for NISLTFE is the data generated under long term fertilizer experiments conducted/ in progress at various organizations under different divisions of ICAR. For this linkages with organizations engaged in LTFE were established to acquire the experimental information available on various aspects of agro technologies since their initiation. About 25 scientists at these locations have been nominated as Nodal Officers by their respective Heads of Institutions for this purpose.. So far a maximum number of 59 experiments under NRM followed by 11 and 4 experiments under Crop Sciences and Horticulture divisions have been identified for entering their data under the system. Source of Information
NISAE has been developed as a web-based application using JAVA technology. Therefore, it is platform independent and can be connected from any computer connected to the Internet. The user only has to confirm that computer has a Web-browser. The architecture using three-layered structure is: Client Side Interface layer (CSIL) Server Side Application layer (SSAL) Database layer (DBL) Architecture of NISLTFE
The client side interface layer has been developed by using HTML, JavaScript using browser as front-end. This interface enables incorporating the validation checks in data entry forms. NISLTFE runs at any node of the network through browser. To run the NISLTFE with full functionality one must have internet explorer 5.0 or Netscape Navigator pre-installed. Client Side Interface Layer (CSIL)
Server side application layer is implemented using Java Server Pages (JSP). These JSP generate HTML pages according to the users' action and request. Server Side Application Layer (SSAL)
Database used for the development of NISLTFE has been structured using SQL Server 2000. The tables with their respective content fields and other specifications are designed using the relational database approach and proper normalization. Data Base Layer (DBL)
The System has been hosted on the Website of IASRI http://www.iasri.res.in:8081/nisltfe
