1. BE ON YOUR GUARD (“WATCH” KJV) (1 Cor. 16:13a). 5 POWERFUL PRINCIPLES FOR LIFE
The word translated “to be on guard/watch” is used 22 times in the New Testament. There are 6 categories of things to be on guard for. A. SATAN –1 Peter 5:8 1. BE ON YOUR GUARD
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him…” 1 Peter 5:8 A. SATAN
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” Mark 14:38 “Let us be alert and self-controlled.” 1 Thess. 5:6 B. TEMPTATION
“Wake up! Strengthen what remains…but if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.” Rev. 3:1-3 C. APATHY AND INDIFFERENCE
“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers…savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock…So be on your guard!” Acts 20:28-31 D. FALSE TEACHERS

1. BE ON YOUR GUARD (WATCH). • 2. STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH (1 Cor. 16:13b). • “The faith” is what you believe, doctrine. Satan can’t ever take your salvation away; but, he can obscure the content of the life transforming truths you believe in. 5 POWERFUL PRINCIPLES FOR LIFE

1. BE ON YOUR GUARD (WATCH). • 2. STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH. • 3. BE (WO)MEN OF COURAGE. • 4. BE STRONG (1 Cor. 16:13d). • Literally, “all of you keep on being strengthened by God.” • 2nd person plural, present tense, imperative mood, passive voice. 5 POWERFUL PRINCIPLES FOR LIFE

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” Eph. 3:16-17 4. BE STRONG
John 15 He is the vine and we are the branches. Without Him we can do nothing. • “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Eph. 6:10 4. BE STRONG
“Come to me…take my yoke upon you and learn from me….” Matt. 11:28-30 • I will give you “living water…whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:10-14 4. BE STRONG

Jesus—”Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matt. 22:37-40 5. DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE
