Brainstorming representation ideas for my “Strategic Software Testing”Website Brian Jenks CEP 817 February, 2013
Overview • Website genre will be“Business /Educational” and somewhat documentary in nature, covering a business approach to testing and how it fits in to the Software Design Lifecycle. • Information will be represented in multiple formats (following slides explore these in more detail): a) Images/graphicsof key processes, possibly including charts and comparative tables. b) Existing videos (YouTube) and quoted statements from official/key sources in the areas of Quality Management and Quality Control (testing). c) Self-created multimedia presentations, to aid in explaining complex ideas and procedures. d) Attachments of sample testing documents (templates and completed examples). e) A contact/feedback process where I can view comments and answer questions related to my BK topic of testing. f) Some light-hearted quotes or clip art on each of the main pages; working to prevent pages from being too long and drawn out (and to provide some comedic relief for a topic that can be less than exciting to learn and use).
Images/Graphics • Display pictures and images of concepts and processes. • Look for examples that provide alternative ways of expressing and demonstrating what the website text is covering.
Videos / Multimedia • YouTube or similar video links, explaining or demonstrating key testing aspects: • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfuUxFtvXDU • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvlozfFB5fE • In the absence of valuable and creative videos (which right now I am having trouble finding ones that are clear, concise and interesting), I will create my own narrated videos using Camtasia. THIS WILL ALSO BE THE AREA USED FOR ACTIVITY #3 “SUBVERTING PRESENTATION TOOLS.”
Sample Documents • Standard testing templates that can be used by anyone planning or participating in a software test. • Examples could include Test Plans, Test Scenarios and Scripts, Testing Results, Defect Summary, etc.
Contact / Feedback • Embedded Contact Forum to ask questions and receive personal feedback on testing. Possible link to shared forum or a “Testing blog” to provide best practices and new ideas.
Quotes / Clip Art • Light-hearted images to interject some humor and separate longer pages of text. • Quotes related to testing, quality, risk.
