3. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines To ensure that all guests and seniors enjoy this memorable event, the following procedures and guidelines have been put in place to protect the safety of all our guests and to preserve the dignity of the solemn festivities of our graduation ceremony.
4. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines All students will be subject to LISD student discipline code guidelines during the practice and graduation ceremony. Inappropriate behavior will be dealt with according to State, District and Campus policies. LISD Student Dress Code will be enforced.
A mandatory practice/rehearsal will take place on campus at the Richard Barton Gym on Tuesday, May 31st, at 2:15 p.m. Students need to be attentive since important items will be discussed in reference to graduation. In addition, seniors will be issued important items such as their 20 tickets for their graduation. All seniors are required to attend the campus practice/rehearsal.
5. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines A mandatory practice/rehearsal will take place Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Laredo Energy Arena. All seniors must bring their Graduate Seating and Bus Card to avoid confusion. All seniors must report to the Richard Barton Gym at 3:00 p.m. for a security, dress code and attendance check with their assigned line leader and line proctor. Once the line leader is ready, he/she will lead the line to board the assigned bus. LEA practice will approximately last until 6:30 p.m. and then return to the campus via buses. ALL SENIORS ARE REQURED TO BE TRANSPORTED BY BUS. NO SENIORS WILL BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE IN THEIR PERSONAL AUTOMOBILES!!
6. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines Graduation is a solemn occasion in which formality must be observed. Therefore, we will follow the Graduate dress code and expectations cited below. Please help us ensure that all seniors are exemplary role models for our school and for our community. All seniors are expected to:
Follow the Student Code of Conduct at all times.
Arrive on time to rehearsals and graduation ceremony.
Ride in the school bus in an orderly and safe manner.
Behave in a respectable and dignified fashion.
Not to chew gum, eat or drink during graduation ceremony.
7. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines Dress in appropriate attire:
Males— white button down shirt with tie, dark (black, navy blue & brown) dress slacks (NO torn/ faded jeans or shorts), dark (black, navy blue & brown) dress shoes (NO sneakers, flip flops or sandals), neatly groomed hair (NO messages on hair, caps and gowns) NO temporary face tattoos, NO visible body piercing other than earrings, NO tote bags, NO sunglasses, NO sports caps or hats.
8. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines Dress in appropriate attire:
Females—knee length dress/skirt or blouse (NO spaghetti straps or too revealing blouse), dark dress slacks (NO torn/faded jeans or shorts), dress shoes/dressy sandals (NO flip flops or sneakers), neatly groomed hair (NO messages on hair, caps and gowns), NO temporary face tattoos, NO visible body piercing other than earrings, NO purses, NO sunglasses, NO sports caps or hats.
9. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines Not have any type of noisemaking or distracting devices, objects, balloons, confetti, pom-poms, food or drinks that creates a disruption in the graduation ceremonies.
Follow the directives of any school employee assisting in the graduation ceremony.
Not have cell phones, MP3’s or any other electronic devices. They will be confiscated by line proctors. Students must return to campus after graduation ceremonies to pick items.
10. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines The Laredo Energy Arena has Visitor Guidelines that must be followed during the graduation. No exceptions will be allowed by the LEA or J.W. Nixon High School.
No cell phones on loud ringer for guests.
No Backpacks (Any bag larger than a purse will not be permitted).
No outside foods or drinks.
No strollers.
No confetti, streamers or noise makers.
No helium balloons.
No tripods for video cameras (Hand held video cameras are allowed.).
No guests will be allowed on the main floor of the arena where the seniors are seated before, during or after the ceremony. Seniors will be escorted to the outside foyer after the ceremony to allow arena officials to pick up and secure the arena.
11. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines The doors of the Laredo Energy Arena will open to all Nixon guests at approximately 5:00 p.m. Please bring your graduation tickets with you and enter through Gates B and C only of the Laredo Energy Arena. At the entrance, graduation programs will be available, one per person to ensure that everyone obtains one.
As a courtesy from the Laredo Independent School District, all seniors will be provided with an 8”x10” graduation photo to be taken during the ceremony. Seniors must pick up their photo two weeks, after the actual ceremony, at the front office of the school.
12. Graduate Procedures and Guidelines City, District and Laredo Energy Arena security personnel, as well as police, will be on hand to assist in the implementation of all city and district and campus guidelines and procedures.
