What is a SSIS County Mentor? • A person identified by the county • Familiar with SSIS, Social Services workflow, and works well with staff • Good communicator with both county staff and management • Willing to support SSIS with a positive attitude in the county • Willing to share information with the county and SSIS Mentoring 101

  3. SSIS Expectations Mentor responsibilities include: • Attend bi-monthly meetings held by the State (Maureen Zinda, Coordinator). • Discuss support issues occurring in the counties with Maureen. • Disseminate information from the mentor meetings to county management and staff. • Support county staff by answering daily application questions. Mentoring 101

SSIS Expectations—continued • Train county staff when necessary. • Coordinate with the County Coordinator about staff training issues and plans. • Contact the SSIS Help Line with questions or concerns about the application • Receive specialized training in coaching, problem solving, and communication. • Serve as a communication link between SSIS and county staff Mentoring 101

  5. SSIS Benefits • Ability to present up-to-date information to all counties at the same time • Getting feedback from mentors regarding new features or current application functioning • Available wealth of knowledge about current challenges in the counties Mentoring 101

  7. Worker Mentor Program Coordinator Responsibilities include: • Listen to mentors to hear counties’ needs. • Facilitate bi-monthly meetings. • Distribute up-to-date information. • Gather information from mentors and disseminate within SSIS. Mentoring 101

  8. Worker Mentor Program Coordinator—continued • Conduct training and offer support and coaching techniques to mentors. • Provide opportunities for mentors to learn new strategies for supporting their staff. • Facilitate the Mentor Program Advisory Committee (MPAC) meetings. Mentoring 101
