C/O 2017 Graduation Requirements • 4 units of Language Arts • 4units of Math • 4 units of Science • 3units of Social Studies • 1unit of Intro. to Lifetime Fitness/Health • 3 elective units, including: • Fine arts, computers, business and/or foreign language • 2 years of the same foreign language required for four year admission • 4units of electives (any combination)

C/O 2017 Testing requirements • Must pass each section of the Gateway • Science and Social Studies • Tests administered at PRHS • When do students take this test? • 10th: March, Summer • 11th: Oct, Jan, March, Summer • 12th: Oct, Jan • No longer require Georgia Writing Test IMPORTANT: The Gateway Test is a requirement for graduation. Students will continue to take EOC (End of course assessments).

  14. National Merit Recognition • PSAT is given in Oct. of each school year. • Score within the designated percentile • Juniors Must register online in October in order to qualify • Indicate either of these honors to prospective colleges. Many have various awards and incentives

  16. SAT vs. ACT • You are able to compare when you take both • You can be accepted to college with either • More students taking ACT than SAT in Georgia and the U.S. (2012) • ACT is curriculum based; SAT is analytical

  18. New HOPE Rigor Requirements HOPE Scholarship Rigor Requirements are posted on the GSFC website. As well as the GaCollege411.org website. Gwinnett County students are already taking most of these classes as they are required for graduation. http://www.gsfc.org

  19. Spring Registration • Our elective arena registration will be held Feb. 18th & 19th for elective selection and for subjects for which students have not been enrolled. • Choose your electives carefully- schedules are for the year and changes are not made once classes begin in the Fall.

Move On When Ready (MOWR) • An opportunity for students to receive high school and college credit simultaneously • An opportunity to complete the final College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) requirements for English, Math, Social Science, Science, and Foreign Language • Dual Enrollment orientation meeting: • 6:30-8:30, Feb. 18 at the Collab Corner in the PRHS Media Center • Student and parent must attend to be considered • More info on PRHS Counseling website
