Purpose of the Project To gain an understanding of the changes in teacher and school leader education certification requirements, performance assessments and learning standards. To provide information and tools to assist in the incorporation of changes in degree programs. To organize collaborative efforts for administration, teacher education, arts and sciences and school leadership faculty and relevant staff, K-12 educators.
Preparation of teacher and school building leader candidates for the new certification assessments. (edTPA, EAS, ALST) • Inclusion of Common Core Standards in teacher and school leader education programs, and arts and sciences programs. • Incorporation of the use of data and data-driven instruction into teacher and school leader preparation programs. cIcu Proposal to NYSED: Focus of the Statewide Project

Professional Development Planning P-12 Strategy
Inventory of existing resources (which are best) • Strategy to involve faculty in education, arts and sciences and other stakeholders to review what already exists • Systems to make resources available (cIcu website and others) • Documentation of this initial level of knowledge Phase 1: Initial Knowledge To gain an understanding through the use of the on-line resources available (on-going)
Map and integrate into teacher and leader preparation programs: • reform expectations; and • content and tasks of certification exams. • Facilitate summer summit (intensive session) that provides deliverables for the fall and beyond. • Engage faculty and individuals in similar roles. • Expected campus roll-out. Phase 2: Integrate Into Programs To deepen expertise and knowledge through sharing of best practices and integration into programs.
