A Little About Me . . . 9 Truths and a Lie 1) I was born in California, but grew up in Massachusetts. 2) I went to Bates College. 3) I lived in Senegal for six months. 4) I play on 3 different rec soccer teams. 5) I taught MS and HS French for 5 years in Baltimore City. 6) I just married my Institute sweetheart. 7) I co-founded and co-coached a boys rugby team at my last school. 8) I was a CMA at West Philadelphia HS at TFA’s 2008 Summer Institute. 9) I beat my former school’s technology teacher in sumo wrestling at our school’s fair three years ago. 10) I believe ALL students are capable of learning and achieving at extremely high levels.

A M,TLD is just like a CMA . . . well, sort of . . . What are the implications of these differences in terms of our abilities to effectively work together? 12
Scope of the M, TLD Role Just as a teacher wears many hats and is involved in many aspects of a school and school community; a Manager of Teacher Leadership Development wears many hats and is involved in many aspects of our regional and national organization. Develops and executes CM professional development. Manages one-two regional projects, (e.g. Induction) Engages in authentic relationships with CMs to push their development and drive towards academic gains Supports newly matriculated corps members Interviews applicants for next year’s corps Helps Development Team as needed Builds relationships with district partners, including principals Engages in regional and national trainings to develop our own competencies What will this mean for our work together?
Breakdown of the Role of the M, TLD Coach: CMs and I are purposeful and grounded in student achievement. • Push you in your instruction and model best practices • Meet to co-investigate and problem solve • Navigate tricky situations in school, classes, etc. • Develop you as a leader in the corps and outside the corps • Connect and guide you for your next step after your corps experience Manager: Execute team priorities, develop skills, follow-up • Set expectations for planning, assessing and problem solving to increase your students’ achievement • Plan and execute on reaching our goals as a MTLD team and inform the team of our progress • Facilitate practical and purposeful collaboration and shared thinking • Offer feedback for improving effectiveness Cheerleader:Support you and celebrate your successes - big and small • Build your confidence and support you in challenging and cheerful times • Push you to use asset based thinking and actively problem solve • Renew your sense of perspective and locus of control Partner: We’ll interact as people, and remember the mission that brought us both here! • We are both individuals with additional responsibilities professionally and personally • We will work together to process your experience and ensure you feel personally and professional supported.
