“There are not enough hours in a day.” How many times have you said that? You might think you can’t accomplish everything you need to in one day, let alone have extra time for leisure. However, it’s useful to remember that there are always going to be new deadlines, assignments, or projects. If you keep rushing to accomplish the next task, you are going to miss out on enjoying life. Finding your passion and purpose might be that much harder if you let your life flash by you. At some point, you have to make doing what you love a priority! Why not start today? Even if you start with 20 minutes a day. Taking some time to do what you love is super important and can benefit your life overall. It gives you something to look forward to. It can also give you a fresh outlook on life, making you happier and better equipped to take on new challenges in life. Here are five ways to help you make time to do what you love. 1. Learn how to say no – If you are already overloaded with work, do not take on more! You have to learn to say no. Saying no to a task (that you don’t have to do) can help free up your day and as a result, have time for YOU. It’s time to start pleasing yourself rather than others.
2. Stop what you are doing – Sometimes stopping what you are doing is the hardest part. There is always more to do, but when you reach a good stopping point you just need to put your hands up. Step back from your work and walk away, even if for 15 minutes. Don’t think twice about it. Our ability to stop can also help us overcome challenging situations for the better. Did you ever listen to life changing stories that didn’t involve someone stopping something they were doing? Be it a small or dangerous habit, learning how to stop is a powerful trait. Listen to changemakers for more inspiring stories about stopping and turning life around! 3. Don’t procrastinate – Just don’t do it! You are wasting valuable time. You could be spending time doing things you enjoy rather than anxiously scrolling through social media thinking about all the things you need to get done. Plus, if you procrastinate, you’ll have to spend more time working. Create a schedule and stick to it. Follow what needs to get done and do it. This leaves you with extra free time to spend how you would like.
4. Delegate – You do not need to be doing everything yourself. A lot of the time there are other people ready and willing to take on more responsibilities. Give other people the opportunity to do so. For example, delegating tasks is key to productivity and success in business. It might be harder if you are a small business entrepreneur, but finding an efficient system to carry out a project will give you (and everyone else) more time for leisure. 5. Consolidate – If you feel like you are limited on time, combine activities. For example, at the beginning of the week you could prepare your meals for the rest of the week. This way, you won’t waste time thinking about what to make for dinner every night. Result: more free time every day. All of these ideas are easier said than done. But think about how you want your life to look. If you think you would benefit from doing what you love, consider implementing some of these tips. You might find you’ll live a happier life.
