  2. A Round or Complex character is a major character in a work of fiction who encounters conflict and is changed by it. Example- Amari from Copper Sun is a round character- why, because she overcomes destruction of her village, killings of her friends and family and becoming a slave

  3. Complex/Round characters- A complex character is a type of character that is more than one dimensional. He/she changes attitudes and behaviors to suit different situations. What makes a complex character? A character that has specific traits, memories, experiences, emotions, hardships, and/or flaws. The character is strongly influenced by the environment.

  4. A Flat or Simple character is a minor character in a work of fiction who does not undergo substantial change or growth in the course of a story. They are uncomplicated characters. Example- Mr. Derby, a plantation owner, who enjoys to be cruel to everyone except Isabelle, his wife.He is not a kind person and he likes to do things like trip someone, then beat them up because they shouldn't have tripped on his foot, even if it isn't their fault. He is racist and sexist.

  5. Flat character has no important roles and is not greatly affected by the events in the story.
