6 Ways Of Fire Prevention

Fire preventive measures are necessary to be adopted in every building for the safety of the property and its inmates. Several fire safety measures should be remembered by every resident of the building to avoid any unwanted occurrence. The residents of the building should be made aware and the fire protection equipment should regularly be checked by a competent person. Also, the household appliances and combustible materials should be stored carefully and out of reach from children.<br>

  1. 6 WAYS OF FIRE PREVENTION

  2. Make everyone aware The first and foremost step to prevent a fire is to educate the residents of the building about fire safety. The residents should be made aware about the escape routes and what to do in case of a fire breakout. Besides, regular fire drills should be conducted to avoid panic during an emergency.

  3. Test smoke alarms Fire prevention in Ireland can be ensured by regular testing of smoke alarms. They should be inspected by a trained individual once a month. If needed, they should be upgraded as well. The batteries need to be changed after every two years, while the alarms need to be replaced after 10years.

  4. Install fire door A fire door forms part of passive fire protection system. It is thicker than a normal door and can withstand heat for up to 60minutes. It should be kept close always with a seal and fire-rated hardware. It is useful in limiting the spread of fire to other compartments of the building.

  5. Fire-resistant materials Use of fire-resistant materials in a building, prevent the spread of fire. These include- fire coatings, fire dampers, smoke dampers, fire-resistant walls and glasses that act as a barrier during a fire. These are fitted into the structure of a building to prevent the spread of fire.

  6. Check home appliances The home appliances need to be serviced and maintained after regular intervals. The functioning needs to be checked to avoid any leakage or damage. The stove or oven needs to be cleaned and maintained to avoid any mishap.

  7. Proper storage If you have any chemicals or flammable materials or hazardous substances, make sure they are stored in safe place. For fire prevention in Ireland, it is mandatory to store these materials in a closed, dry room with proper ventilation.
