BLDC HUB MOTORS: Reliability: BLDC hub motors are easier to build and it is easy to install into the wheel hub. So it is easy to maintain and it reduce the risk of big mechanical problems. Power & Torque: Hub motors are directly fitted in the wheel, so the power output of the wheel will be high as compare to mid drive motors. Cost effectiveness and fit on terrain: Hub motors are simple in design and less expensive. It is best at flat terrain and urban transportation for multipurpose and continuous stops and starts. MID DRIVE MOTOR: Better Hill driving: The mid drive motor provides more torque so it is perfect for uneven terrain and climbing slope and hills. Optimal Weight Distribution: Mid drive motors improve handling and balance. Here, the motors not driving the wheel directly instead the crankshaft rotates. Consider the flat terrain and get to ride on it. If suddenly we are step into different type of terrain or hills, a mid–drive motor may be more efficient. For urban transportation and flat terrains, a hub motor will be sufficient and less in expensive. If you need rugged driving experience and more torque then go for hub motor. In conclusion, both BLDC hub motors and mid drive motors has its unique feature and advantages and different riding conditions. So select your vehicle based on your needs.
