  2. The week ahead • Thursday: continue with projects, put on poster boards • Friday: main idea quiz, peer assess, finish projects and grade them • Next week: The Crusades, quiz on Friday • Week after: The Renaissance, test on Friday

  4. Create your own religion • You will work with your assigned partner or a small group (must be approved by Miss Skiba first, and maximum amount per group is 3 people) • You and your group members will use what you know about religion to create your own religion • How do you do this?

Project Details • You will create a religion by doing the following: • Make aname, deity, beliefs, rituals, followers, sacred symbol, sacred text, leader, & big reward • Have them all related to each other • Use what you know about religion being unifying and divisive and apply it • Show original ideas and be creative by applying it to a poster board

Beliefs • The JETS are the best football team • Ski-Skilly will bring judgment day when the JETS will play in the Super Bowl and win their 2nd championship • Ski-Skilly will bring Fireman Ed back to us • Ski-Skilly will bring back DarrelleRevis, Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller, and Shonn Greene to us

Rituals • Pray to Ski-Skilly before every game so the JETS will win • Retweet players’ tweets two times a day • Spray any and all haters in public settings • Make a pilgrimage to MetLife stadium at least once a year in which you must tailgate prior to kick off and participate in a Ski-Skilly prayer session among fans • Chant like Fireman Ed during every game • Celebrate Sept 24th every year as Revis Island Day . This marks the day that player DarellRevis ended his holdout and returned to the JETS. • Wear a NYJ jersey on every game day • Hang a JETS flag outside of our living quarters from the end of August until the beginning of February

  11. Another belief • The JETS haven’t won the Super Bowl since 1969 because their judgment day in this competition will be against the Patriots in the sweetest victory ever

Leader • Fireman Ed (currently resigned) • F.M.E. is Ski-Skilly but in human form • JETS fans look to him to help lead them in faith • He leads our ritual prayer on game days; J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS • He interprets the messages from Ski-Skilly • Forbidden to interact with Patiots fans and radio host Mike Francesa • Ex-communicates Skibbites if we break this rule

The Big Reward • Believing in Skibbism will bring the JETS a Super Bowl championship • They will make trades and get back all their players from the 2011 season to play in the Super Bowl • Mark Sanchez will be reincarnated as goal post • Mike Francesa will lose all 1st amendment rights • We will one day visit Revis Island

It is your rituals. • Answer to Q #5. Make up a reason for this. It is another belief. • Answer to Q #6. Predict how this can be prevented. This is what makes followers continue to believe and the “what-if” scenario if rituals aren’t followed. • Answer to Q #7. Make your religion appealing to others. Why would anyone want to believe in your religion? This is your “big reward”.
