  6. PUT THIS INTO PRACTICE • #1: NY POST • #2: NY TIMES • #3: USA TODAY • #4: NY DAILY NEWS Split into 4 teams take 8 minutes together looking through all of the stories that pop up. How many are hard news? List headline How many do you consider soft news? List headline

  7. COMPARE THE DIFFERENT PAPERS • What is the ration of hard news to soft news? • What do you think it should be?

  8. BRAINSTORMING IDEAS • WITH THE SAME GROUP, TALK ABOUT DIFFERENT IDEAS FOR YOUR VALENTINES DAY STORY. • USE ONE ANOTHER AS A SOUNDING BOARD FOR IDEAS. IDEA PROPOSALS Use the index card for an idea proposal Put name and idea on it.
