  2. History • The Giant Desert Centipede is for having a very painful bite • Though it’s venom isn’t lethal, it can leave a person writhing in pain for anywhere from a few hours to couple days. • It got it’s name from it’s large size and it’s habitat, the desert

  3. Scientific Classification • The Scolopendra heros is part of the phylum Arthopoda • Subphylum: Uniramia • Class: Chilopoda • Order: Scolopendromorpha • Family: Scolopendridae • Genus: Scolopendra • Species: heros

  4. Birth/Juveniles • Mothers will incubate their eggs until they hatch, and even afterwards. • They leave a few days after the eggs hatch.

  5. Adults • Adults have long, flat bodies • Like most other centipedes, they have a tail that looks like it’s head • Orange head, black body
