How DTMS Tracks IWQ DTMS looks at your MTOE for the required weapon systems and uses that as your denominator when calculating your qualification percentage. IMPORTANT CHANGE 10/25 DTMS received an update that fixed a long running problem with calculating qualification percentages. It now considers all Rifle and Carbine variants equivalent. Prior to the update, if your unit was required 88 M4A1s by MTOE but only had 45 On Hand like the picture to the right, the highest qualification percentage on Rifles you could get was 45/88 = 51%. It would not consider an M16A2 or M16A4 qualification as an M4A1 qual. After the update, it will now consider an M16A4 and M16A2 qualification the same as an M4A1 if the weapon is assigned the correct way (see next slides)
Assigning Individual Weapons USARC has done audits and most Companies do not assign weapons properly. Your number “Assigned” column CANNOT exceed your “On Hand” Column. The system will let you do it, but you will get a call from the G3 and be told to fix it. Many Companies assigned more than were on hand because of the bug that was fixed with the 10/25 update. If your MTOE required 88 M4A1s but you only had 45 on hand to shoot you would assign everyone an M4A1 in DTMS no matter what they shot on the range, so it would count but doing that would make your Assigned column much higher than your On Hand quantity. Now that all rifle variants count you don’t have to exceed your On Hand quantity.
Assigning Individual Weapons (Option 1) 1. To assign a weapon and a qualification record on the same screen open a soldier and click the weapons tab. 2. Assign their weapon by clicking Add Assignment. If it is their Primary Weapon based on the MTOE click “Primary Weapon”. The Start Date it will ask for won’t impact the qualification. IMPORTANTQualifications in the Reserve expire 1 year from the Qualification Date and are then no longer counted by DTMS IMPORTANTThe weapon systems must match here or it won’t count. If you assign an M16A4 then their qualification must have an M16A4. Even with the new update on 10/25 these still must match. In the past, even if they matched, only qualifications from the variant required on the MTOE would count. 3. Add a qualification by hitting Add Qualification. When filling out the qualification you must select the options in order: Weapon -> Date -> Form -> Enter Hits -> Hit Score and then save it.
Assigning Individual Weapons (Option 2) 2. The following screen comes up. You can click the Assign box then save at the bottom of the screen to quickly assign weapons and make them primary if they are the primary system for them on the MTOE. Click the “Records Per Page” to see more of your company listed. The default is only 10. 1. To mass assign weapons open your weapons management screen and click “Manage” IMPORTANTRemember you can only assign up to the amount you have On Hand. The system will let you assign more but you will fail in in DTMS audit. 3. To add a qualification click this icon and it will take you to the screen from option 1.
Assigning Crew Weapons 2b. To add a new crew click “Add” 1. Open your Crew Serve Weapons Management and expand the lists for each weapon systems to see your crews (if you have any) 2a. To update an existing crews qual, click “Qualification” IMPORTANTFor a crew qualification to count it must be “Reportable” and the Date Assigned (see next slide) must be at least the day before the qualification. Reportable means you can assign the soldiers on that crew to only one crew. The system will block you from assigning them to others. It will also prevent you from making more reportable crews than weapons systems on hand.
Assigning Crew Weapons (continued) 3. For “Number”, I recommend adding the names of the soldiers. It is easier to track since that is what is displayed on your weapons management screen 4. Select “Reportable” 5. You only need to assign a gunner if that is all that is checked. Click “Assign” for the Gunner to assign a soldier to this weapon
Assigning Crew Weapons (continued) 6. Find the solder you want to assign and click “Assign” 7. Enter the Assignment Date when asked. IMPORTANTThe assignment date MUST be before the qualification date or it will not record the qualification. This is important to keep in mind if you are going back to fix your qualification records based on this slide deck. Don’t just use the default assignment date of today.
Assigning Crew Weapons (continued) 8. After you select and “Assigned Date you” will be returned to this screen. Hit “Qualification” IMPORTANTMake sure you see the soldier you just selected and the right Assignment Date
Assigning Crew Weapons (continued) 8. Select the date they qualified then hit “Mark as Qualified” IMPORTANTThe assignment date MUST be before the qualification date or it will not record the qualification.
