2017 Biblical Stewardship IglesiaBiblica Fundamental de la Gracia
Membership Covenant We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all the nations (Matt. 6:20-21; Acts 20:35;1 Cor. 16:1-2; 2 Cor. 9:6-7; Phil. 4:15-16; 1 Tim. 6:18-19).
Some NT Guidelines • Trusting God (2 Corinthians 9:8-10) • With a view toward eternity (Matthew 6:19-20) • Without desire for personal recognition (Matthew 6:1-4) • As the Lord has prospered us (2 Corinthians 8:14,15) • Generously (2 Corinthians 8:1-7) • Cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:6-7) Financial Stewardship
Cont’d • According to the need (2 Corinthians 8:13-15) • Systematically (1 Corinthians 16:1-2, 1 Corinthians 14:40) • Following Christ’s pattern of sacrifice (2 Corinthians 8:9, Hebrews 12:2-3) • From your first fruits (Proverbs 3:9-10) • With Discernment (2 Corinthians 8:19-20) • Worship (Philippians 4:18)
Some Thoughts on Wealth “As base a thing as money often is, it yet can be transmuted into everlasting treasure. It can be converted into food for the hungry and clothing for the poor; it can keep a missionary actively winning lost men to the light of the gospel and thus transmute itself into heavenly values. Any temporal possession can be turned into everlasting wealth. Whatever is given to Christ is immediately touched with immortality.” • A.W. Tozer (quoted in ”American Idols”, p. 201) Financial Stewardship
1 Timothy 6:17-19 “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
