Goals of the Project • Sustainability and Management Support: Make DERI @UIBK a lasting asset • Business Development: Disseminate DERI expertise and IPR into business applications and foster high-tech start-ups based on semantic technology in Tyrol and elsewhere • Student Exchange: Strengthen DERI‘s attractiveness for top PhD candidates by well established exchange tracks with Stanford and others • Research on e-tourism applications of semantic technology

Student Exchange II DERI IBK – Stanford University • collaboration on unifying framework for describing, analyzing, and executing of services in service oriented computing • collaboration on Semantic Business Process Management • joint workshop series called "Semantic Web Service Challenge" to start in spring 2006, and to be held in Stanford, jointly organized by DERI Innsbruck, Galway and Stanford • collaboration with Protégé and National Center for Biomedical Ontology • Collaboration with Department of Structural Engineer and Geomechanics on WSMO

DERI Business Development • Mission: • make the need, importance and added value of SWS research understandable and visible for the IT industry. • Establish in DERI and academia awareness of industry requirements and needs • act as a catalyst for applied research activities and cooperative projects • Create and sustain added value for the IT environmentin Tyrol and Austria • Implementation: • Recruit DERI Business Development Team • Total funding ~700K € (36 months) • Achieve self-sustained funding by end of 2007
