Among students with a master degree in informatics/computer- or systems science 87% received a job within a year of completing their degree, a rate highest for all general degrees. The Department of Informatics • Object of study: Relation between people and IT: at home, at work, in organizations and specialized settings • Application areas: Processindustry, health, sports, e-government, media • Main focus: understanding this evolving relation, and on designing, implementing and testing innovative interactive technology to support people, groups and organizations • 40 employees • 6 full professors • 19 assistant professors • 9 doctoral students “People dont read on the web, they scan”

Being a master student in Sweden/Umeå • Reflective and ambitious student • Help each other • Swedes are punctual, academic quarter • 13, 13.15, 13.00 • Swedes are informal, no hierarchies • No titles (Dr, Sir, Madame, Mr, Ms Mrs…) • Native Swedish speakers • Better to ask than to do wrong “If you make everything bold, nothing is bold”
