Spanish for Spanish Speakers Español para hispanohablantes S.S.S.
Purpose • This course is designed for students who speak Spanish at home and/or students with previous experience in the TWI program (K-5) • Bilingual/ biliterate/ bicultural • Students will evaluate their Spanish competency at the beginning of the year and build upon their knowledge.
Course objectives • Students will be able to discuss and write about various issues in the Spanish speaking world, in the target language. • Students will be exposed to authentic materials on a variety of topics in the target language. • Students will understand the difference between interpreting the meaning of something in Spanish and the act of translating something from Spanish to English.
Class • Follows the foreign language state standards (ACTFL) • 40 minute class/ 5 days a week • Grammar will be studied in context and will be reinforced through the students’ own writing/speaking as an integral part of the revision process • Homework Diarios 6TH GRADE UNITS: Hispanidad, Descubrimiento, Medio Ambiente, Gastronomia, Ser Adolescente, Poesía
What: All sixth grade students will receive an iPad as a learning tool for the 2018-19 school year. Why: • Increase learning opportunities that involve engagement in, enhancement of, and extension of learning standards • Increase students access to learning • Increase our students ability to have voice and agency in their learning Access to Innovate Supporting relevant and challenging learning within and beyond school
