Job Description • Aid doctors in treating diseases. • Aid doctors in diagnosing diseases. • Test body samples Ex: blood test, urine sample, etc. • 85% of medical decisions are based on these results. • Technologists supervise labs and technicians. • Technologists analyze and convey data.
Typical Day Check message and inspect lab equipment. Set up specimens and wet mounts/test. Speak with other health care professionals/monitor technicians. Examine grams and wet mounts and record data. Work out problems that are occurring. Ex: Technicians, computers, etc. Do semen and pregnancy analyses.
Skills Needed • How to use lab equipment. Ex: microscopes, chemical analyzers, etc. • You need to be able to work independently. • Need to be flexible. • Responsible • Careful and patient • Be knowledgeable in biology and chemistry.
