WHY CTS SUPPORT CONFERENCE ACTIVITES • CTS Conference Goals • Increase education of CTS Chapter leaders so as to increase future conference activity • Identify more conferences to sponsor financially • Support Non-Sponsored Events when IEEE members benefit • Benefit financially (allows increased IEEE activities) • Financial Sponsored Conferences provides long term financial resources
CTS Sponsor Conferences • 2010 • I2MTC 5/3 – (25%) • Solar Technology Workshop 9/17 – (100%) • 2011 • IEEE USA March – Austin • Others in planning phase: • ICICDT 2012 – (100%) • Globecom 2014 - submitted proposal. • EMC AUS (Ross Carlton) – possible future conference proposal. • Power AUS (Rheuben Hair) – Training class. • Consulting network AUS (Kai Wong) – 2 short courses that charge a small fees to attend. • Communication / Signal Processing Society AUS (Hanan Potash) – Wireless Hive Networks Conference. • SMC SA (David Akopian) – Lectures that charge a small fees to attend.
CTS Guidelines • Contact Thuy Dao (thuybdao@ieee.org) to determine the meeting category for your event. • Workshop, tutorial, and lecture • Submit plan and budget to CTS executive committee for approval prior to execution on plan. • Budget should resulted in 20% surplus. • Conference, Symposium,Training class, and Workshop • Submit plan and budget to CTS executive committee for approval prior to execution on plan. • Budget should resulted in 20% surplus. • An MOU has to be signed between CTS & event organizer if CTS / chapter is to be financial or technical sponsor • All contracts have to be reviewed and approved by CTS executive prior to signing.
CONFERENCE CHALLENGES • Increasing conference awareness • Finding volunteers willing to lead / participate • Educating chapter (and Section) leaders to get involved with their societies so as to bring conferences to CTS
