  4. Youth At the age of 18, Shakespeare in 1582 married the 26-year-old Anne Hathaway. Anne gave birth to a daughter, Susanna born 26thMay,1583. Twins, son Hamnet and daughter Judith, followed almost two years later and were born 2nd February 1585.Hamnet died of unknown causes at the age of 11 and was buried 11 August 1596.

  5. London and theatrical career It is not clear for which companies Shakespeare wrote his early plays. After the plagues of 1592, Shakespeare's plays were performed by his own company at The Theatre and the Curtain in Shoreditch, north of the Thames. Globe theatre The Globe opened in autumn 1599, with Julius Caesar one of the first plays staged. Most of Shakespeare's greatest post-1599 plays were written for the Globe, including Hamlet, Othello and King Lear.
