  2. În anul 395, Imperiul Roman s-a împărţit în Imperiul Roman de Apus şi Imperiul Roman de Răsărit sau Bizantin

  3. Întemeiat pe locul vechii cetăţi greceşti Bizanţ • Primeşte numele de Constantinopol în anul 330, după împăratul Constantin (“oraşul lui Constantin) • Este considerat ,, Noua Romă “

  4. Împăratul Constantin cel Mare, primul împărat creştin, s-a îngrijit de apărarea şi dezvoltarea oraşului.

  5. Situat la răscrucea drumurilor comerciale dintre Europa şi Asia, în strâmtoarea Bosfor

  7. Împăratul roman Iustinian (sec. VI) a construit biserica Sfânta Sofia(Sfânta Înţelepciune), simbolul oraşului Constantinopol

  9. Cand biserica a fost terminata, cupola si tavanul sau au fost in intregime poleite cu aur, a carui sralucire se reflecta in fiecare suprafata lustruita.

  10. În anul 1453, Constantinopolul este cucerit de Imperiul Otomanşi îşi schimbă numele în Istanbul

  11. Biserica Sfânta Sofia este transformată în moschee.

  12. Aici se întalnesc mărturiile a trei culturi: romană, bizantină şi otomană.

  13. Palatul TopkapiConstructia a fost ridicata la porunca lui Mahomed al II-lea, după cucerirea Constantinopolului, unde se află multe lucruri luate de turci de la popoarele cucerite ( sabia lui Ştefan cel Mare)
