  3. A. humility = “humble opinion self” 1. Romans 12:3 B. gentleness = “power under control C. Tolerance in love = “holding up in love”

  4. III. Ephesians 4:3 A. “diligent” = real effort to keep unity and peace. B. Not “uniformity” but unity! 1. A husband and wife find a path of peace.

  5. 2. Brothers and sisters allow differences of opinion. 3. Christians should focus on the things that matter. a)   “bond of peace” references ligaments. b)  “bond” but allow movement of both.

  6. (1)  We preserve unity by letting each other be different! (2) Psalm 133:1 (3) Bottom line = we must agree to disagree. IV. Ephesians 4:4-6

  7. A. “You have in common what matters most.” V.Ephesians 4:7-8 A. The Lord made us different and gives different gifts.

  9. 2. Gifts the Lord gave us are out of His grace!VII.Ephesians 4:11-13 A. Gifts: 1. Some say they are apostles and prophets. 2. Qualifications:

  10. a) Have seen the Lord. b) Eyewitness of His resurrection. c)   Invested with miraculous sign-gifts. d)   Chosen by the Lord or the Holy Spirit. 3.   The prophet was 100% accurate! a) Don’t see them today!

  11. b) The Lord still uses people to start new works! 4. Verse 11 links “pastors and teachers” together. a) “pastor/teacher” gifts go together. 5. All gifts for one reason. a) Saints to be doing work of the ministry!

  12. b) Saints often feel they are paying a pastor. (1) Not what Paul tells us. (2) The pastor, pastors and teaches to equip the saints!

  13. (3) People mature as they gain knowledge. (4) Byproduct of maturity.VIII.Ephesians 4:14-16 A. Harder to be “tricked” if you know the Truth!

  14. 1. The immature changes what he believes. 2. Not all want to hear the truth. B. Speak truth in love, we grow up in Christ!

  15. 1. Spiritual Head is Christ!! a)    Body of Christ = the Church. b)    Causes growth of the body. (1) A church will grow where there is unity and love!

  16. IX. CONCLUSION A. Tonight part one of 6 on Christian Behavior. 1. Work hard at keeping unity and peace! 2. Gifts for the ministry.

  17. 3. Let the Word of God mature us, and the church will grow! B. List of things we should and shouldn’t do. 1. Christ like qualities we should “put on”.
