ASIA • Asiais the world's largest and most populous continent, located primarily in the eastern and northern hemispheres. It covers 8.7% of the Earth's total surface area and comprises 30% of its land area. With approximately 4.3 billion people, it hosts 60% of the world's current human population. • Asia has a high growth rate in the modern era. SOUTH & CENTRAL ASIA • Are regions of grasslands, deserts, huge lakes, and mountains. HIMALAYA!!! • Extreme Climate and Heavy monsoon rains and desert climate in Central Asia. • South and Central are two poorest regions in the world – once part of the communist economic system. • Kazakhstan in Central Asia is progressing in terms of economy.
SOUTHWEST ASIA • A region of towering mountains in the north and vast desert in the south. • A continental crossroads that connects Asia to Europe and Africa. • The region includes the world’s most important oil producer, Saudi Arabia, and several other oil-rich nations. • A birthplace of 3 great religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
EAST AND SOUTHEAST ASIA • Regions of rugged mountains, vast plains, dense forests, and crowded coastlines. • Heavily populated. • CHINA the largest country in these regions • Many nations do not have much land that is good for farming or settlement. Very little land that is flat – leads to packed area of people. • China and Mongolia have large plains good for farming and raising livestock.
