Applied Research Fund (ARF)www.info.gov.hk/itc/eng/funding/arf.shtml • A venture capital fund launched in 1993 to support technology ventures undertaken by local companies HK$750M (C$150M). • Since 1998, management of the ARF is contracted out to 3 private-sector venture capital firms. The fund managers will assess the technical and commercial viability of proposed technology ventures to determine the terms of the Fund’s investment in a company. • 19 investments made since contracting out. Already 1 successful divestment through acquisition by listed company.

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation • Offers one-stop infrastructural support to technology-based companies to activities. • Nurtures technology start-ups through incubation programme. • Provides premises in the Science Park for applied R&D activities. • Provides land and premises in the industrial estates for production.

  20. Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Co. Ltd.
