  1. Creating Jobs By: Jacob Lee & J.D. Moore 2/7/12 Pd.3

  2. Problem: Creating Jobs • Creating jobs is our problem that is really interesting to talk about during this time of recession. The unemployment rate of the united states is 8.5 which is a pretty high number. This number of unemployment is greatly dealing with our poor economy that we have right now. By creating jobs it should give the economy a boost that it needs to get the country back on track.

  3. Problem Continued • Creating jobs is a issue that most of the people are concerned over because by creating jobs it affects everybody. Creating jobs effect the unemployed and employed. It of course effects the unemployed because now they would be able to have a job and help there families. This also affects the employed because now they start to look for other jobs that they really want and hope to get.

  4. Problem Continued • People need to start worrying about creating jobs because by creating jobs it starts a cycle to get the country back on its feet. By creating jobs you lower the unemployment rate which will then raise the economy which will then drop our debt which gives us a better country.

  5. The Cause • One main reason why the unemployment rate has increased to 8.5 is because of the economy. With the economy crashing and becoming better at a very slow rate many companies have went bankrupt. With these companies becoming bankrupt the people working in those companies have now lost there jobs and now can’t provide for there families. But, just because the economy is bad doesn’t mean that just is the only reason.

  6. Cause: Continued • Another cause of why the unemployment rate is so high is because of technology. For example think about the automobile industry. When automobiles was first developed many people were building these cars step by step piece by piece which was a long process. But, by the time technology came around like robots and other things you saw jobs go away because companies believed that they didn’t need the workers anymore. But, the automobile took a big hit and started to notice that they still needed people to do the jobs and now we are seeing the auto market make a comeback.

  7. Scope • The scope of this issue is a federal or national level because creating jobs is something that can affect the whole entire nation. Also creating jobs can be a national scope because it has been something the government has been talking about for a long time.

  8. 3 Possible Solutions • For one of our solutions we mentioned that we cut the hours for other people to work. • Another solution we have is that people work fewer hours per week which would leave more hours available for the employed to be with there family, or to do their hobbies. Also raise the salaries and wages and no oversupply of working hours. This leaves more hours for the other employed people. • Our final solution is too replace the cost of the profits which will allow the net profits to be higher.

  9. The Best Solution • Our best solution to our topic is number 2 because if we cut more hours, we could create more and salaries, and it would allow the employed more time to be with there families.

  10. The Group We Are Contacting • Because our scope is at a federal level we are contacted our state senators and representatives. • Delaware U.S. Senator: Tom Carper/ carper.senate.gov • Delaware U.S. Senator: Chris Coons/ coons.senate.gov • Delaware U.S. Representatives: John Carney/ johncarney.house.gov

  11. The Letter • Dear Senator Carper, 2/7/12 • Unemployment in the United States is a tremendous problem that affects not just one person, but mostly everyone in the United States. Even the employed are affected because they are losing money and they have to worry about their jobs also. This is why we have to create jobs, not just at a local or state level, but at a national level. This is a federal problem. The current unemployment rate is 8.5 percent, which is fairly low for what it has been in the past, but we still need to lower the unemployment rate even more. The unemployed need jobs as well as the young people coming out of college. If we do create more jobs, people will have better opportunities to work and gain money, while the economy is getting an extra boost since the government will be earning more money and taxes. Our economy will then become stronger and more stable than it is now, since the economy is in a slump in the United States.

  12. Letter Continued • The main root cause of the economic crisis is excessive consumption accompanied by high budgets, current account deficits, and record low savings rates. Creating jobs would decrease the excessive consumption and maybe even stop it. The low savings rates would be a lot higher and there wouldn’t be as much account deficits. There are three main solutions that could possibly put more jobs out on the market. One of them is to cut hours for others to work. That might work because the hours that are cut can go to another person for them to work. The next solution is working fewer hours per week would leave more hours available to be with family, entertainment, sports and hobbies. Wages and salaries would be higher, and there would be no oversupply of working hours. I believe this is the solution to creating jobs because this would be a positive for everyone, the unemployed would have jobs, the employed would have their hours cut but that would give them time to be with the family or do something fun like sports or hobbies. Plus, the wages and salaries would be higher and there would not be any leftover hours or oversupply. The other solution is to replace costs on the profits to allow net profits to be higher. This wouldn’t really create jobs but it would help out the economy.

  13. Letter Continued • Creating jobs would make our country stronger as well as our economy. If you could do something about this, please do so. Maybe you could make suggestions to other senators or discuss a solution to making jobs, maybe even use my solution. Creating jobs can be solved, if people speak up and express their opinions. I hope you’re the person who does so. If you could contact me back, please contact me through e-mail. My e-mail address is spikeit1997@aol.com. I would like to know your thoughts and ideas on my solution to create jobs. I would greatly appreciate it and I would like to thank you for time. • Sincerely, • J.D. Moore and Jacob Lee
