  3. Planning and Scheduling • Define Objectives • List Tasks • Estimate work duration • Determine interdependent tasks • Schedule tasks • Schedule Resources • Directing • Assign tasks • Review criteria for task completion • Controlling • Report progress • Review Progress • Re-plan • Review completed work • Resolve issues • Close project Project Management

  5. After assessing customer needs, our electric toothbrush design will focus on portability, user friendliness, durability, and functionality. To achieve these goals, our new concept will be collapsible, have an improved rechargeable power supply, and be overall appealing to our customers. Revised Problem Statement

  6. Researched external sources • Found information about: • Customer reviews on similar toothbrushes • Existing toothbrush patents • Other products on the market • Dissected an electric toothbrush to find information on how it performs External Search Activities

  7. Thinner • Increased portability • Easier to pack for trips • User friendly Concept 1Sleeker body

  8. Chargeable through any laptop USB connection • Easy charge anywhere across the globe • Same cord as many new cell phones Concept 2Rechargeable battery and Micro-USB charging port

  9. Cleans teeth better • Better performance Concept 3360⁰ Rotating Head

  10. “Swiss Army Knife” Design • Multiple Functions • Fully functional toothbrush • Pull-out toothpick • Side flosser Concept 4

  11. Easy storage • Replaceable head • More sanitary • Travel friendly Concept 5Detachable Head

  12. Morphological Chart

  13. Concept Selection • Assigned weights to our four customer needs • Compared our concepts with each other • Found best options for our design

  14. Sleeker Body • Rechargeable Battery • Micro-USB charging port • 360⁰ Rotating Head • Hard-Cover Traveling Case • Detachable Head • Portability Final Design

  15. The on/off button is connected to the circuit • Controls the flow of current from the rechargeable battery. • When the circuit is closed (on) the battery powers the motor • Near the head of the toothbrush. • The motor turns a gear, which is connected to a cam gear unit • Then converts the rotary motion of the motor to a spinning/oscillating motion, which is then applied to the head. How Does it Work?

  16. Overall success • Met the needs of the customers • Very travel friendly • Micro-USB to USB charging portis vital aspect of our design • Optimal performance Concluding Remarks

  17. Thank you!
