  2. Equator Flag Flag Description: It has three horizontal bands of yellow (top, double width), it is blue, and red with the coat of arms superimposed at the center of the flag.

  3. Equador population • The population of Ecuador 13,447,494 as of July 2002. • Languages:Spanish (official), Amerindian languages (especially Quechua) • Religions :Roman Catholic 95% • Ethnic groups: Mestizo (mixed Amerindian and white) 65%, Amerindian 25%, Spanish and others 7%, black 3%

  4. Some natural hazards are: Natural hazards: frequent earthquakes, landslides, volcanic activity; floods; periodic droughts

  6. Highest and lowest Elevation points Elevation extremes: lowest point: Pacific Ocean 0 m highest point: Chimborazo 6,267 m

  7. Map of Equador • The location is: Western South America, bordering the Pacific Ocean at the Equator, between Colombia and Peru.

  8. Transportion! There are 965km of railways. Highways consist of 43 497km total. With 8,165km paved and 35,032 not paved. There are 1500km of waterways in Ecuador. There are 205 airports in Ecuador.

  9. Crater! Pasochoa Reserve Quito Fog swirls over the rim of a crater at the Pasochoa Reserve in Quito, Ecuador.

  10. Pasochoa Summit (Quito) This is a summit in the Pasochoa reserve. It is located in the west and it is called the Pasochoa Summit.

  11. Ecuador Animals This is a hammerhead shark that is located in the waters around the Galapagos Islands. The amount of these sharks has gone down in recent years because of fishermen catching them. This is a plate billed mountain toucan. This is a tortoise that is located on the Galapagos Islands.

Industries: petroleum, food processing, textiles, metal work, paper products, wood,chemicals, plastics, fishing, lumber Imports: machinery and equipment, chemicals, raw materials, fuels; consumer goods Agriculture - products: bananas, coffee, cocoa, rice, potatoes, manioc (tapioca), plantains, sugarcane; cattle, sheep, pigs, beef, pork, dairy products; balsa wood; fish, shrimp

  14. Exports! Exports - partners: US 38%, Peru 6%, Chile 5%, Colombia 5%, Italy 3% Exports - commodities: petroleum, bananas, shrimp,coffee, cocoa, cut flowers, fish -Exports: account for $4.8 billion of Ecuador’s economy

  15. Sierra • Warm days, cool nights • Quito is located there • It is the central region • Serranos are the people that live in the Sierra

  16. Costa • Means coast • It is the western region of Ecuador • Yellow fever has been wiped out there • Railroads and railways have been set up there for transportation • Swamps have been drained to make more land available

  17. Oriente (east) • Not many people live there due to: thick rainforest, hilly land, rivers that frequently flood, • People are beginning to move there for oil and the industry in that area

  18. Galapagos Islands • How does these islands help Ecuador’s economy? • Tourism people travel there to view the different types of animals and wildlife that is unique only on those islands • Charles Darwin went there to view the unique animals

  19. Conclusion In conclusion while I was doing this slide show I learned a lot of things about the country Ecuador and about there culture. So while I presented it I hope that you learned some valuable information about Ecuador.
