  1. Friday 8-30-13 • WU #4: Give an example of when you would use: • A Fire blanket • Goggles • Turn in Journal today for extra credit • Journal check due NEXT CLASS • Cover, Title page, Table Contents, highlighted rules, all pages complete and glued in through page 17. • Safety test FRIDAY

  2. Friday 8-30-13 People, trash can, stove – anything that you can completely cover up. • WU #4: Give an example of when you would use: • A fire blanket • Goggles When teacher instructs you, when using heat or chemicals, or when using objects that may break, expand or damage eyes.

To do: • Grade Hazard Symbols • Tootsie Pop Lab • -Work in groups of 4 • -Complete the Purpose, Hypothesis, Variables, Materials and Procedures • -Determine what • observations you will need to • record and how you will • measure it. • -Your group must be prepared • to conduct the lab on Tuesday. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

  4. Tuesday 9-3-13 • Fill out planner (No Warm UP) • Be sure all pages are numbered in Journal before turning in. • Get in lab groups • Collect data and finish lab write up.

  5. Wednesday 9-4-13 -A person using both ears will have a smaller error when locating a sound than a person who has an earplug in one ear. WU: 1. What is the independent & dependent variables? 2. Describe relationship between 2 types of Variables & Data. 3. Does data support the hypothesis? Use data to explain.

Use data to explain The angle of error is much greater when one ear is plugged compared to when subjects can hear out of both ears. Yes, data supports that people can identify location of sound better when using both ears.. -Using both ears the angle of error is only 19o . -With one ear plugged, the error jumps to 69o.

  7. Tootsie Pop Lab conclusion • Use data to describe effect of independent variable on dependent variable. • Did the data you collect give you enough information to answer above question? Explain • What went wrong in experiment • What could you have done to fix anything that wasn’t good.

  8. Use data to support or negate hypothesis • What could you have done to get more reliable data?
