What IS IT? • Invasive species are exotic plants or animals from other countries introduced to a new environment and have had a large negative impact on other organisms in that environment. • Examples: Kudzu in North Carolina and the Burmese Python in Florida
What Causes It? • Invasive species are caused by exotic imports into the United States and released out in the wild purposely or accidently and have spread rapidly to other areas of the country. • Examples: New York, Arizona, Florida, California, and North Carolina
Negative impacts on the environment • They can take over large areas and be harmful to other animals and plants in that area. • Examples: Kudzu growing over other plants in the area and preventing diversity with plants. • The Burmese snake kills of other predators or prey and there is no more competition or resources for other species.
Possible Solutions • Putting restrictions on imports and exports of exotic plants and animals • More enforcements what grown and released into the wild.
